Nuclear Lipids and Cell Fate
نویسندگان
چکیده
Lipids are known not only as components of cell membranes but also as part of the nuclear fraction. In the nucleus lipids are present with a specific composition and metabolism and their behaviour, in different physiological and pathological conditions, is completely independent from that of the cell membrane. The nuclear lipid fraction is constituted by glycerolphospholipids, sphingolipid and cholesterol which have an active metabolism thanks to the presence of lipid enzymes responsible for their synthesis and catabolism. Nuclear lipid metabolites are in equilibrium when the cells are resting whereas, when the cells are submitted to various stimuli, they interact in different ways in relation to cell type and localization: nuclear membrane, nuclear matrix and chromatin, playing different structural and/or functional roles. The focus of this mini-review is to highlight the implications of nuclear lipid metabolism on the cell fate regulation when a proliferative or apoptotic stimulus is applied. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I-19: Surrogate Egg Shell Culture for The Analysis of Avian Stem Cell Fate
Background: The chick embryo is a classical model to study embryonic development. However, most researchers have not studied the effect of embryonic manipulation on chick hatchability. To determine the effect of egg orientation and type of sealing film on the hatchability of cultured embryos, and to determine the fate of adulte stem cells injected into the blastoderm. Materials and Methods: Win...
متن کاملSecondary Malignant Transformation of Giant Cell Tumor of Bone: Is It a Fate?
The malignant transformation of conventional giant cell tumor of bone (GCTOB) is rare and usually occurs with irradiation. Here we report two neglected cases of conventional GCTOB with spontaneous malignant transformation at 11 and 16 years after initial diagnosis. In the former case, the patient refused to receive any treatment following the incisional biopsy, and in the latter, the firs...
متن کاملPhosphorothioate oligodeoxyribonucleotides dissociate from cationic lipids before entering the nucleus.
Antisense oligonucleotides complementary to specific mRNA sequences are widely used inhibitors of gene expression in vitro and in vivo . In vitro cationic lipids have been demonstrated to increase the pharmacological activity of antisense oligonucleotides by increasing cellular uptake and facilitating nuclear accumulation. We have investigated the intracellular fate of oligonucleotide/cationic ...
متن کاملSimultaneous regulation of miR-451 and miR-191 led to erythroid fate decision of mouse embryonic stem cell
Objective(s): Various microRNAs (miRNAs) are expressed during development of mammalian cells, when they aid in modulating gene expression by mediating mRNA transcript cleavage and/or regulation of translation rate. miR-191 and miR-451 have been shown to be critical regulators of hematopoiesis and have important roles in the induction of erythroid fate decision. So, the aim of this study is inve...
متن کاملEditorial: Cell Fate
The complexity and plasticity of cell fate determination has intrigued cell and developmental biologists for decades. Cellular differentiation is the acquisition of specialized characteristics; which is intimately associated with changes in gene expression, alterations of chromatin, and changes in nuclear architecture. Differentiating tissues exhibit a progressive restriction of cellular plasti...
